Annual lease, not permanent ownership

A custom alias must be renewed to remain assigned. AliasCloak’s current design includes a grace period after expiration and a safety hold before an expired alias can potentially return to the pool. Confirm the live product terms before relying on a specific name.

Does paying for an alias change security?

No. The purchase changes the mailbox identity, not the underlying end-to-end encryption or your HIPAA obligations. A shorter or more memorable alias is a convenience/branding feature.

Does buying an alias make AliasCloak HIPAA compliant?

No. Pricing has nothing to do with HIPAA compliance. A regulated organization still needs to evaluate the complete workflow, including whether a BAA is required, access controls, authentication, risk analysis, retention, endpoints, policies, training and incident response.

HHS states that a cloud provider can be a business associate when it creates, receives, maintains or transmits ePHI on behalf of a regulated entity. Encryption alone does not eliminate that analysis.

Is the core AliasCloak messenger free?

Yes. A generated mailbox can use the core encrypted mail, chat and file workflow without purchasing a custom alias.

How often does a custom alias renew?

The current product model uses a 12-month lease. Renewing early extends the existing term rather than discarding remaining paid time.

Why do shorter aliases cost more?

Short names are scarcer and easier to remember, so the current pricing model charges more for 3–4 and 5–7 character aliases.
